@Ben, thanks! We still have some time left in the beta process so hopefully the "fantastic, revolutionary development"s will still come. :-)

I was impressed at first. Perhaps because of the attractive interface, but that is part of a software experience for me. It might not be a fantastic, revolutionary development, but I think it is good UI design.

This is mostly a reply to Sean, but the original author did a fair job on the post too ;)

@Sean, I posted about the topic because its a noticable change, the first thing most users will encounter, and I'm sure the team have made most of their changes there so it is "relatively stable" and the final version won't have many additional features. I'm sure others have posted about it for similar reasons. The things you are most interested are also those items in flux so it takes more effort to post about this. I'd expect to see more posts about that after the next drop of the beta because I'm sure those areas will have advanced further by then.

I guess that's where I'm coming from too. I use Downloader Pro to copy the files off of my cards because it does so much more than Lightroom in terms of power and flexibility for renaming, copying, adding GPS data, etc, etc. And the rason I mentioned "excited" is because this change seems to be the most talked about change with LR3beta vs. LR2. I personally want the focus to be on processing speed, ease of metadata entry, and final file quality rather than on making it easier for people to understand where there files are coming from and going to. If they can't figure that out then Lightroom might not be the right program for them in the first place...

Just my 2 cents though!

@Sean, not sure whether excited is the right word for it. I like the new dialog but there are a few more things that need to be in there before I could be upgraded to "excited". They still have a little way to go before my importing workflow will be 100% Lightroom based.

I find it odd that people are so excited about this. I really didn't think that the old import dialog was so bad, and I don't really intend to use most of the features of the new one either. Great write-up though!
